statable Statistics for study and research

Standardized coefficient beta (β)

Beta is B in standard deviations: if the predictor rises by 1 standard deviation, the predicted variable changes by beta standard deviations. This makes predictors with different units comparable; across studies only if the spreads are similar.

Example: Time management β = .29, gender β = .21: time management contributes a little more. The constant has no beta.

Caution: For a 0/1 group (e.g. gender) B is easier to read: the difference between the two groups.
