Median time to the event

The median time is the point in time at which the curve falls to 50%: up to then half have experienced the event. For time-to-event data it is better than the mean, because censored people distort the mean. The interval comes from where the confidence bands cross 50%. If the curve never falls below 50%, the median is “not reached”; the interval can be open at the top as well.

Example: Median = 31, 95% CI [18, not reached]: the lower limit is 18, the interval is open at the top.

Caution: If the curve lies exactly at 50% over a stretch, Statable takes the midpoint to the next step, as R does. With few events the median is very uncertain.
