My field of study: which cards Statable shows
In brief
- Under "Settings" → "My field of study" you choose which cards the page "New analysis" shows. The switch only sorts the card list.
- It never changes how things are calculated: the same data give the same numbers, the same defaults and the same sentences in every field.
- The default is "Education and psychology" with all cards as before. "Show all methods" hides nothing.
What changes
- Nine cards stand in their place in every field: difference between groups, before and after, relationship, correlation matrix, prediction, distribution, crosstab, scale and agreement.
- Other cards stand in their place, in the collapsed group "More methods", or are hidden, depending on the field.
- Hidden does not mean "does not exist": under the cards it says how many methods are hidden, with "Show all" and "Change field of study". The search above the cards and the search in the help find all methods.
- Pages you have already made stay visible and editable even if their card is hidden (for example a project from another field).
- Options inside a card (for example ridge and lasso) never depend on the field; they are available to everyone under "More options".
The question on the Data page
The first time data is opened, the tour starts by asking for the field of study. Anyone who ends the tour earlier sees the question once on the Data page afterwards, without it blocking the way; "No, that is fine" ends it for good. The field of study stays on the device and does not come from the browser language or an account.
